A specific pattern of light waves in a speck one-billionth the size of a proton left from the Big Bang was detected by a Harvard-led research team. It could be a strong evidence of the rapid growth spurt, known as cosmic inflation, or the “bang” of the Big Bang . Besides, first images of gravitational waves, ripple in space-time was also discovered, though it was predicted hundred years ago by relativity theory of Albert Einstein. This discovery is hailed as one of the most important scientific ones of all time, providing more space for scientists to explore the possibilities and ways that the universe begins. This team is led by Harvard-Smithsonian Center, gathering the scientists from Johns Hopkins University, University of Minnesota and Stanford. Cosmic inflation theory was proposed by MIT physicist Alan Guth in 1980, as simpler models of the Big Bang could not explain some features of the universe..
