Manama - BNA
Bahrain should look to constructing space ports and encouraging students to enter space technology, said NASA Scientist and Islamic Presenter Dr Abdul Hye. He told a gathering at the Al Areen Palace and Spa that it was only the grit and determination that could get the nation where it wanted to in pursuing space programmes. “NASA encourages organisations and countries to enter the programme,” he added. He told the Bahrain News Agency that it was easy for Bahrain to enter the NASA portals. Students who are now in university and also those who are in the final years of secondary school have to look up to the sky. “Aeronautical engineering, Biology and Geology are among the subjects that a student needs to look at in detail. There has to be the urge to look further ahead even into outer space,” added Dr Hye. Turning to the construction of space ports, he urged Bahrain to take the initiative in building space ports. Colonising the outer space, he said, is the next initiative of man and Bahrain can plan a lead role in this venture, said Dr Hye. Asked about the support NASA provided for such initiatives, the scientist said that NASA gave technical support once a programme was presented to the organization.  Addressing a gathering on NASA in Bahrain, Dr Hye gave a presentation on the achievements made by this organization and the strides taken by other countries including India and China in reaching space.
