Tokyo - QNA
Samsung provided instant reply to Apple after a court in Japan ruled Friday that Samsung did not infringe Apple’s patents for its iPhone and iPad for some of its Galaxy smartphones and the Galaxy tablet. The verdict came a week after Samsung was asked to pay Apple $1 billion in compensation to patent infringements. Apple accused Samsung of copying technology relating to synchronizing video and music for its Galaxy S, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 7. The judge, however, said he found no evidence of an infringement on Samsung’s part and asked apple to pay for the costs of the trial. Apple could still appeal within the next 30 days. The verdict represented a sigh of relief for Samsung which could face, an unlikely, ban from the US market for infringing Apple patents. The Korean company could have been dealt a huge blow had it been found guilty of copying Apple technology in today’s trial as well. The patent battle between Samsung and Apple has been ongoing for a number of months and looks set to continue in the future, as both giants battle it out to overtake the smart phone global market.
