A Malaysian Chief Executive Officer (CEO) stated here on Friday that the 24th International Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2013, organized by Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS), has attracted around 1,000 various designs and innovations by local and international participants. This year, the international participation has increased by 42 percent, compared to last year, Dr. Augustine Ong, MINDS President, told reporters, indicating that 65 percent of displayed designs and models are of green environment standard. MINDS is committed to attract more young designers with future innovation talent, particularly through International Young Designers' Exhibition, added Ong. He noted that around 20 countries are taking part in this year's exhibition, compared to 15 last year, in which Romania, Macau, Untied States, and Japan are participating for the first time, adding that other participating countries include Belarus, Canada, China, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The three-day event, which kicked off on May 9 and is to conclude on Saturday, is an international platform for local and international inventors and research scientists to present their inventions and innovations to a business community keen on commercializing unique inventions. Organized by MINDS since 1989, ITEX attracts inventors with their latest inventions and innovations from universities, research institutions, individual inventors, young inventors, and corporations from Malaysia, Asia and Europe.
