Google says the Street View feature of its mapping service that allows users to virtually visit a destination, is coming to Venice, Italy. Since cars are nowhere to be found in the city in an Adriatic lagoon, Google is using engineer walking up and down each and every medieval alley with a multi-angle camera harnessed above his head, Italy's ANSA news agency reported Wednesday. The engineers' "trekking" across the city should be complete in a few months, Google said. When complete, users of Google Maps and Google Earth can access a a panoramic, three-dimensional view of virtually any point of Venice, including landmark monuments like St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. It is not known if Google engineers have been taking to gondolas to record the city's famed canals, ANSA said.
