Analysts said the film "Fast Five" was the most-popular movie of the year among users of the U.S. illegal-download service BitTorrent. Data released by TorrentFreak this week said "Fast Five" was downloaded 9.3 million times in 2011 with "The Hangover II," "Thor" and "Source Code" following with more than 8 million downloads each. The Hollywood Reporter noted not only was "Fast Five" nowhere near the 16 million downloads "Avatar" received on BitTorrent last year, but the activity on the entire 2011 Top 10 was well below 2010. TorrentFreak chalked up the steep decline to increased use of both legal download services and new pirating sources.
