Oslo - XINHUA

A DNA testing will be used to confirm the identity of a man who appears to be suffering from amnesia, the Norwegian news agency NTB reported on Thursday. The man, dubbed "John Smith", was found exhausted in a snowdrift in Oslo before last Christmas. No identification documents were found on him and he could not tell Oslo police who he was, where he came from and how he ended up in Norway. But he speaks good English with Eastern European accent. He also understands the Czech, Slovakian, Polish and Russian languages. Norwegian police sent his photos and fingerprints to Interpol for assistance, only making no headway for several months. A couple from the Czech Republic claimed to be the man's parents after Czech newspapers reported the case. Oslo police now believe that man's parents have been found and it will be confirmed through a DNA test, to bring an end to the months-long mystery surrounding the man's identity. Czech police called their Oslo counterparts on Wednesday evening, saying that an old couple turned up and said the man on the photo was their son.
