
The Department of Coasts and Border Security has launched a flotilla of new innovative boats, the Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Public Relations department said Monday.
Director of Coasts and Borders Security Department (Sea) Brigadier Ali Ahmad Al Badid launched the new boats named Al-Mohit.
The C and B Department, in the eastern area of Ras Abou Abud, has deployed the boats.
Speaking at the event, Brig. Al Badid said launching Al-Mohit is part of further developing and modernizing the department's fleet.
The boats, received long ago, underwent a period of experimental operation. The department accredited the boasts after testing performance and efficiency of the new boats to carry out the services, the MOI said.
The boat engines and all the equipment are fit to fulfil the work of coastal patrols as well as engage in search and rescue missions at sea.
The department has developed a fleet of boats of various types and sizes for multiple functions. The department updates its maritime fleet and keeps them ready to perform assigned task, the MOI added.
