BMMI, a Bahrain-based international retail, distribution and contract services group, has launched a state-of-the-art emergency preparedness and response centre on its premises in Sitra to provide greater measures of security for both its staff and assets. Referred to internally as ‘B-Intercept’, the purpose of the control room is to provide a centralised and efficient monitoring and risk mitigation centre, said a statement. “B-Intercept is a centralised hub that will operate 24/7, 365 days a year,” explained Suttish Boodoo, BMMI IMS Manager. “Through this centre, the plan is to gather intelligence-based information to monitor, command and direct activity to avoid areas of high risk, thereby establishing a new discipline for security management within the organization.” The B-Intercept team will be the main point of contact for anything related to HSE, security and crisis management, addressing many functions such as travel management, incident management, crisis management, contact database management, integrated facilities management, CCTV monitoring, access control management and security intelligence - all in one room,” Boodoo said. With BMMI constantly growing, the need for a stable security system is felt now more than ever. B-Intercept’s fully operational workstation aims to create an environment where employees can feel safe the moment they walk in the office till the moment they leave, the statement said. “As far as security is concerned, we are working aggressively to upgrade our systems and implement very high safety standards. This is a particularly important infrastructure to support operations across Africa as we operate in areas of volatility and unrest such as Mali and Sudan. The control room is designed as a facility to protect both our people and our assets,” said Boodoo. TradeArabia News
