
Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa inaugurated here today a number of high-tech vessels as a part of the strategic plan to develop the Coast Guard.
On arrival at the Muharraq Coast Guard Base , the Interior Minister was welcomed by the Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan, Interior Ministry's Undersecretary Major-General Khalid Salem Al Absi and Commander of the Coast Guard.
The Interior Minister was briefed on the main tasks of the Coast Guard and the additional value of the new vessels to enhance active control and supervision efforts of maritime borders and regional waters.
The Coast Guard Commander delivered a speech, in which he expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Interior Minister for inaugurating the new vessels, hailing his directives to develop and modernise the Coast Guard to be professional forces that are able to enforce the law in territorial waters and protect the security and public safety.
The Interior Minister viewed the continuation of the development and modernisation strategies in all security sectors to enhance capability in performing job duties through the latest technology and training.
He said that the development of the Coast Guard meets the current and future requirements, hailing the efforts to protect security and general safety and ensuring maritime security environment.
