There is an app that lets babies take their first selfie but it is probably not good for their development. The 99 cent app "Baby selfie" is available on Android and uses images to get a baby's attention as the camera goes off. The app takes a series of images so the best one can be selected. As babies are a little early in development to understand the purpose of a selfie, they are mostly for mothers as a part of their extensive baby photo collections. Mothers with children under 5 use social media twice as often. Despite this new milestone, it may harm babies' development as the American Academy of Pediatrics doesn't recommend passive screen time for any child under the age of 2. Social interaction is best to help encourage their rapidly developing brain.
