A trademark dispute between Apple and a Chinese company has led to the seizure of iPads in several cities in China. Authorities in the eastern city of Weihai are investigating a complaint by Proview Technology that Apple is allegedly violating its rights to the iPad name. Proview says it registered the iPad trademark in China in 2001. Apple bought the rights to the name from a Proview affiliate in Taiwan, but the Chinese company says it owns the name in its home market, AP reports. Last year, a court rejected Apple’s claim to the name in China. Due to the dispute, authorities have stopped sales of iPads in Shijiazhuang, Xuzhou, Zhengzhou and Qingdao.
