Islamabad - UPI

A Pakistani woman and her 4-year-old daughter were the victims of an acid attack Wednesday apparently orchestrated by the woman's jilted lover, police said. The woman, identified only as Tahira, suffered burns on her arms and her daughter was treated for burns to the stomach after three men thew acid on them at a local market, GEO News reported. Police said Tahira had been living alone for several years since her husband went to the United States. A neighbor who was in love with her had been pressuring Tahira to divorce her husband and marry him despite the opposition of her family. That man, along with two accomplices was allegedly responsible for the acid attack, the report said. No arrests have been made, GEO News said.
