
Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Ertharin Cousin hailed the Yemeni government's efforts in working with the UN bodies to achieve the goals of development and to fight against the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. During her departure, the UN official said, in a statement to Saba, that the Yemeni people have desire and determination to work with the government and the UN in order to reach the aimed objectives in Yemen. Cousin stressed the urgent need to offer aid for Yemenis in the current time, so that can assist them in the future, especially in the presence of approximately 10 million people suffer from food insecurity crisis. She pointed out that the UN requires more than US$ 700 million to help Yemen, while the WFP implements its activities in Yemen at amount of US$ 260 million, which does not meet humanitarian needs required to help Yemen to overcome its difficulties.
