
The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) organised a seminar on the "Enforcement of the provisions of Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) agreement in court verdicts". Presented by lecturer Dr. Taha Abdul-Maula, it was attended by magistrates, Public Prosecution members, Ministry of Interior representatives and the Chairman of Bahrain Bar Association. The seminar discussed several themes, explained the provisions of CEDAW agreement and its legal power before Bahraini courts and considered national regulations commensurate with CEDAW, egalitarianism, non-discrimination, judicial power, the Labour Law for the Private Sector and the Family Law (Part 1). The Kingdom of Bahrain joined CEDAW agreement on 18-6-2002 which became binding since 18-7-2002. Bahrain has always been and continues to be compliant with the provisions of the CEDAW agreement since its ratification.
