Protest over absence of women’s seat quota in Egypt constitution

The Center of Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development in Egypt (ACT Egypt) called for staging a two-hour female protest outside the Shura Council, Downtown Cairo, on Wednesday to reject Article 11 of the constitution. Article 11 has been ratified without any mention of the women’s quota in the seats of legislative councils, said ACT Egypt Director Azza Kamel. Women organizations and relevant NGOs are expected to participate in the protest to start at 12 p.m., she said.
