Trenton - UPI

A New Jersey woman was sentenced to 51 months in prison Friday for stealing millions of dollars in AIDS and cancer drugs meant for indigent patients. Keisha Jackson, 48, of Perth Amboy, must spend three years on supervised release when she completes her sentence, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Jackson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud. When she entered the plea, she said she knew she was profiting by stealing from patients who could not afford to buy the drugs. The drugs were donated by a pharmaceutical company. Jackson worked as a customer service representative for a company hired to administer the gift. Investigators said Jackson and others involved in the scheme arranged to have the drugs delivered to her and resold them. Another woman, Lateefa McKenzie Body, 35, of Linden, N.J., was convicted at trial and is awaiting sentencing.
