A California woman whose 5-year-old daughter died after being found barely alive in the trunk of a car has been arrested on suspicion of homicide, police say. Police called to a welfare check at a Sacramento apartment building Thursday found members of a family near a sedan in the parking lot, said police spokesman Doug Morse. The girl was found inside the trunk. Morse said the child "was in need of immediate emergency medical assistance." The girl died at a Sacramento area hospital, The Sacramento Bee reported Friday. Detectives were not immediately able to determine how long the girl had been in the trunk. The coroner has not released a cause of death. Aquelin Talamantes, 29, was booked into the Yolo County jail.
