Allowing women to join the Ministry of Interior has been part of a march launched by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to help them gain full rights in the Kuwaiti society. Since joining security work, women have proved eligibility and merit in all missions they were tasked with, field and administrative assignments, ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Training and Education Affairs Major General Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah told KUNA.
The ministry spares no effort to remove obstacles or hardships that might face women police to help them play due security role, he added.
He stressed in that respect the cooperation between the Public Relations and Moral Guidance, and Security Media Departments and the Training and Education Affairs sector to attract women to join security services.
The Training and Education Affairs sector at the Academy is eager to provide students with of leaderships and administration expertise and skills, as well as raising their cultural and knowledge levels and physical fitness according to well-prepared programs.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Assistant Director General for Administration Support Affairs at Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences, Dalal Khaled Al-Ruwaished, underscored the significant role women play to build a sound society. Working in the police is a good example.
According to Al-Ruwaished, the first batch of women police graduated from the Institute in 2008-2009. They were 27 members, among them 16 officers with university degrees.
She noted that the numbers of women willing to join the security work is on the rise, manifesting a strong desire to serve the country.
Education and qualification form the base for the Institute to reinforce the national security values in policewomen, Institute of Authority Support Director Muna Eassa Al-Shatti said.
The number of graduates so far have reached 309 officers, NCOs and privates, she told KUNA.
Police doctor captain Login Al-Rashid, who graduated in the Institute in 2010, said that allowing women to join the police opened fresh prospects for them to prove themselves and play due role side by side with men.
She told KUNA that the Kuwaiti society is in need for women police in all sectors, security, services and administration.
