A Pennsylvania woman known online as "Jihad Jane" was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for aiding terrorists and plotting to kill a Swedish cartoonist. Colleen LaRose, 50, of Pennsburg, Pa., admitted in 2009 she flew to Ireland to carry out a plot to kill a cartoonist whose image of Muhammad enraged much of the Muslim world, KWY Newsradio, Philadelphia reported Monday. LaRose returned to the United States and did not carry out the plan. After being approached by the FBI, prosecutors said LaRose was helpful in identifying co-conspirators including Maryland teenager Mohammad Hassan Khalid and an Algerian man. Prosecutors had sought a longer prison term for LaRose, who apologized in federal court in Philadelphia Monday, saying she was "entranced" by Muslim extremists.
