
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received here today a delegation from the Jaafari Endowments, including its Board of Directors Chairman Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor, Director Ali Al-Haddad, two engineers and Head of Financial and Administrative Affairs. She reviewed with the delegation ways of coordinating efforts regarding heritage projects and cultural and historical achievements. They discussed cooperation in heritage urban projects, in particular the Khamis Mosque’s Visitors Centre which stands witness off the region’s rich history. They also discussed investing in the land located north of the Khamis Mosque through turning it into a parking for cars of the visitors of the Centre which the Culture Ministry is planning to build in the coming period. They also reviewed plans to revamp the Bu Raiya Mosque and the old village surrounding it, as well as cooperation in registering ancient tombs and revamping Bab Al-Bahrain. They also discussed reviving old Bahraini crafts and folk industries such as pottery and textiles in Bani Jamra. On the sidelines of the meeting, members of the delegation of the Jaafari Endowments visited the National Theatre and the Regional Arab Centre for World Heritage, and expressed admiration of the unique architectural design, praising the efforts of the Culture Ministry in developing national cultural and civilisational heritage of the kingdom.
