Beirut - Georges Chahine
Lebanon's Education Minister Hassan Diab said both Syrian and Lebanese students are being treated equally, in a statement to "Arabstoday". Syrian students who fled to Lebanon face problems with academia, foreign language and change of curriculum, he admitted. Diab said: "What we have done last year will not change regarding their free education in public schools. However, we are waiting until the end of this month in order to finish enrolment and know the number of the students, especially as we expect a remarkable increase from last year when we received 700 pupils. According to the results they will be distributed on the Lebanese schools." Diab said the two schools in the Western Bekaa, where Syrian families were moved to, have now been evacuated. The Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs has been given a list of 60 closed schools, which can provide shelter for Syrian families in need.
