Khartoum – Abedalgoum Ashmeag
In the wake of Khartoum’s Education Day, commemorated by annual school competitions, Governer of State, Abdul Rahman al-Khidir has said that the Sudanese state was applying the concept of “comprehensive education.” The shift in the state’s education policy will give a renewed emphasis to physical and cultural activities and encourage students to take part in international sporting, arts and science competitions. The Governer stated “Education is a priority for Sudan. We must nurture creativity and brilliance in our youth to ensure the next generation will spread Sudanese culture and arts worldwide.” Khartoum’s Strategic Planning Council held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss regional and local education plans and assess the progress they had been making. The plans central aims are to increase the availability of education, to ensure that schools are well-staffed, that moral values are taught at schools, to improve the quality of school meals and environment and to build partnerships with other local or international schools.
