Singapore - Xinhua
Singapore's Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong launched a new fund on Monday to enhance school-based parent partnership efforts in education. Goh launched the Parents in Education Fund worth 150,000 Singapore dollars (120,000 U.S. dollars) at a local primary school. The money was raised through Goh's private golf game for charity. He also pledged to raise at least 450,000 Singapore dollars ( 360,000 U.S. dollars) over the next three years for the fund. Fifteen local primary schools will each receive 10,000 Singapore dollars (8,000 U.S. dollars) a year for up to three years to support their school-based efforts to reach out to more parents.
