A group of rebels from the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) kidnapped two teachers in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, private Dogan news agency reported. The PKK rebels blocked a road in Senyayla village of Kulp town of Diyarbakir province and stopped a car coming from neighboring Mus province, said the report, adding that they kidnapped the two male teachers with the threat of weapons. The The PKK rebels brought the teachers into a forest in the region, said the report. Meanwhile, the Turkish security forces killed one PKK member in a clash in Ortacak Region in Bingol province of eastern Turkey late Friday night after one village guard was killed and two Turkish soldiers wounded in the province, said a statement released by Bingol Governor's Office on Saturday. A total of 330 PKK militants were killed in 974 military operations from February to August this year, according to a statement issued by the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, took up arms in 1984 in an attempt to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey.
