Lady Gaga teacup fetches 6 million yen in Japan auction for charity

A teacup and a saucer that pop icon Lady Gaga used at a news conference in June last year fetched 6,011,000 yen ($75,280) in an Internet auction for a quake charity. The teacup, from which Lady Gaga sipped before reporters, has a message in Japanese ''We pray for Japan'' written by the singer and a lipstick mark along with an autograph. It drew more than 1,300 bids on Yahoo! Japan Auctions in the one-week period that ended at 11 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will go to a program to support young Japanese artists to study abroad, the U.S. Embassy said in an announcement about the auction.
