Italian students hate math more than any other subject, a study said Thursday. According to a survey by student interest site Studenti.it, 38% of Italian students chose math as their least favorite, followed by Latin at 16% and Italian at 9%. "This aversion (to math) has a scientific basis," said Marta Ferrucci, who manages Studenti.it. "According to research at the University of Chicago, solving math problems has a tendency to provoke a cerebral reaction that's comparable to physical pain. The research is causing much discussion, but it shouldn't become an alibi". Among the least-loathed subjects in the survey were foreign languages and computers, despised by only 5% of students, followed by Greek, law and economy at 4%.
