
The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Student Leaders Forum opened here on Tuesday to mainly discuss the possibility of establishing a youth association. Young leaders and members of student organizations from 15 APRU universities participated in the meeting at Russia's Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vladivostok. This year's meeting is mainly to discuss the establishment of APRU's youth association. The result of the forum will be presented to the organization's 17th annual president meeting, to be held here on Thursday through Saturday. Participants will also discuss the work on joint projects in the fields of student government, volunteering and academic exchange. Formed in 1997, the APRU aims to foster education, research and enterprise in the Asia-Pacific Region. It currently includes 42 universities from 16 members: Australia, Canada, Chile, China, China's Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and the United States.
