Indian Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD) M. M. Pallam Raju hailed the historical relations between Syria and India in all the fields, expressing hope that life in Syria will return to normal as soon as possible. During a meeting with Syria's Ambassador to India Riyad Abbas, Raju voiced his concern over the acts being committed by the armed terrorist groups, including the destruction of public and private facilities and targeting of national cadres. He stressed his ministry's readiness to boost cooperation with the Syrian government in the field of education, particularly in terms of increasing the number of scholarships offered to the Syrian students. Raju referred to his country's need for making use of the Syrian expertise to strengthen the Arabic language in India. The Syrian Ambassador, for his part, expressed Syria's appreciation of India for the opportunities it has been offering the Syrian students in the field of education and scholarships. Abbas hoped that agreements in the education and cultural fields signed between Syria and India will be renewed.
