Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi has endorsed today (Thursday 14 June 2012) the results of the first session of intermediate schools certificate examinations in which the total success rate for both boys and girls in government schools reached 61.08%. Meanwhile for students of the religious institute reached 61.50% that is close to last year's exams result for the same session. The Minister pointed out that the percentage is likely to go up to 80% as soon as results of the second (supplementary) round of exams are announced. According to the applicable rules, graduates from intermediate schools must pass all school courses successfully otherwise they shall have to sit for a second round of supplementary exams and that most of them have to redo only one subject for supplementary exams. On this occasion, the Minister reiterated gratitude and appreciation to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander for their generous support and constant welfare to education aimed at upgrading the standards of graduates and improvement of educational infrastructures, teaching methodology and learning process, professional teacher training and all other aspects which provide optimum means to boost schools output and improve schools performance. The Minister of Education congratulated all students, teachers and parents and praised excellent performance of schoolteachers, management staff, ministry officials and all ministry departments for successfully implementing the nationwide examinations, marking students' papers and prompt issuance of results in a timely fashion, impeccable accuracy and utmost diligence. A number of 10,776 male/female students sat for the general intermediate certificate exams this year comprising 5,477 boys who attained 52.10% success ratio and 5,299 girls who attained 70.30% success ratio. A total number of 2,620 male students and 1,574 female students shall sit for the supplementary exams.
