Dubai - Arabstoday
Three new private schools are opening in Dubai as the new term begins. These schools will take in around 5,000 pupils when they reach their full capacity, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). This may come as a relief to many as securing seats in good schools in Dubai is a daunting task. While a couple of schools increased the number of seats available for the new term, parents, particularly those who are new in Dubai, often find it tough to get their wards admitted. KHDA said the three new schools have enrolled 975 students so far. While two are offering the British curriculum, the third is offering the American curriculum. "The new schools now offer parents more choice and will help offset the current demand. As the regulator for private schools in Dubai, KHDA continues to focus its vision of lifelong learning with quality, engagement and accessibility as the areas of priority. The new schools, offering a substantial increase in the number of available seats, are part of KHDA's focus on accessibility. We wish all schools a good academic year with improved quality education for all students in Dubai," said Mohammad Darwish, chief of KHDA's Regulations and Compliance Commission. In April this year, two new Indian-curriculum schools were opened, offering an additional 4,800 seats.
