Court set date for decision on appeals by Mubarak, Nazif, Adly over internet cut trial

The Supreme Administrative Court set the date of July 4th for its decision on the appeal filed by former president Hosni Mubarak, his premier Ahmed Nazif and interior minister Habib El Adly over a ruling fining them EGP 540 million.

In May 2011, an administrative court had found the former president and the two former ministers responsible for cutting internet and mobile services nationwide during the 18-day uprising that led to their ouster. The three together were fined for the damage caused to the Egyptian economy.

Under the fining rule, there were expected to split the fine equally.

All internet services were cut between January 28 - February 2, 2011. Mobile calling services were out on 28 January for the whole day, while short message services were not restored before February 5.
