President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi
Moscow - MENA

The Russian newspaper kommersant praised relations of friendship between Moscow and Cairo describing it as strong.

The newspaper, in an article about the Russian-Egyptian friendship on the occasion of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's current visit to Moscow, which started Tuesday, said that Egypt became a strong partner to Russia after the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.

It said the two sides are keen on boosting political relations through economic and trade cooperation.

The newspaper pointed out to the strength of military cooperation between the two countries after Sisi came to power where military agreements estimated at 3.5 billion dollars were signed.

It said Russia started providing the Egyptian army with S300BM missiles.

It quoted a Russian logistic expert as saying that Russian companies would make use of the New Suez Canal project through exporting Russian products to India and other Asian countries via the canal.

The newspaper expected an agreement worth 5 billion dollars to establish a nuclear plant for generating electricity in Egypt to be signed during Sisi's visit to Moscow.
