London - MENA
Two Brtisih newspapers critisized the constituional declaration issued Thursday by Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi. In its editorail Saturdan, the Financial Times described Morsi's desicions as "wrong", adding that it's not too late to correct these decisions. The paper said that Morsi's supporters see that his decisions were made to protect the gains of the January 25 Revolution that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak. As the protests and attacks on offices of Mr Morsis Muslim Brotherhood showed on Friday, the move will only polarise further Egyptian society, added the paper. The paper, meanwhile, said that Morsis deft handling of foreign affairs has shown that his government can be an effective interlocutor between Middle East and West. But it is also the test for whether democratic Islam has a future.
