Damascus - Arab Today

The Syrian Coalition has called on organisations concerned with the rights of journalists, including Reporters Without Borders, to do everything possible to defend the rights of Syrian journalists under attack from President Bashar al-Assad's regime. In a statement, the opposition body claimed that head of the media office of Daraya’s local council, Shahir al-Muaddamani, was targeted by Assad's men in Daraya, outskirts of Damascus, on Friday. "Assad’s forces continue to pursue a systematic campaign of intimidation, harassment, and violence against journalists infringing International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law," the statement said. Al-Muaddamani, 27, was reportedly involved in a peaceful demonstration against the Syrian regime, the coalition confirmed.
