Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Sabah has left for Cairo to attend a meeting of Arab information ministers due here on Thursday. In pre-departure remarks to KUNA, the minister stressed the importance of promoting and bolstering Arab media cooperation and overhauling the Arab media mechanism in order to meet political, security and economic challenges the Arab world is facing at present. He also underscored the significance of devising a plan for Arab media action on the international arena in a professional and developed manner that could serve Arab issues in general. Kuwait is eager to attend this meeting out of its belief in the necessity of promoting and cementing media relations among all the Arab countries so that media could be used as an effective tool for development and advancement in the Arab world, the minister pointed out. The Arab information ministers are expected to discuss an agenda of 17 items, primarily an Arab media code of ethics and media role in the fight against terrorism
