Board Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah received Dean of Lebanese Journalists Elias Aoun, accompanied by career journalist Ahmad Shamsiddeen El-Bouz at KUNA HQ, Wednesday. The discussions at the meeting covered an array of media issues, particularly development of Arab media to compete against international media. The KUNA chairman stressed the importance of creating bridges among Arab media institutions for exchange of ideas, information, and expertise, and for coordinating views and stances vis a vis issues and causes of interest to the Arab World. He added there is no alternative for cooperation and coordination of effort in light of today's rapid changes and revolutions in the fields of information technology in general and of the technical and technological developments which brought about a sea change in the media industry. Meanwhile on the Lebanese side, Aoun said Arab media showed marked development in recent years, but more effort is still needed to develop Arab media address to reach the level acceptable and desired by the public today.
