
Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said here on Monday the government attaches much attention to people with special needs so it is eager to incorporate them in society in a scientific manner.
Addressing a seminar at the National Library of Kuwait on how to provide better care to people with disabilities, the minister called for diagnosing and developing care to people with special needs in line with the world perspective of genuine partnership with all society components.
This mainly aims to adopt the best national policy to take care of people with special needs through legislative and executive support, the minister said.
In this regard, the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs has adopted a set of plans and blueprints to follow up and conduct research studies pertinent to the efforts of State institutions and establishments on their care to the handicapped, he added.
The ministry sets a top priority to this category of society by means of holding meetings and gatherings with civil society organizations to produce a national study on people with special needs, Sheikh Salman Sabah pointed out.
For his part, the Minister's Advisor Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Duaij said the State Ministry for Youth Affairs is keen on the principle of partnership and social responsibility in terms of societal care to young people in general.
On the seminar, he said it mainly aimed to effectuate societal responsibility for youth care in Kuwait and to monitor the implementation of recommendations enshrined in a scientific study conducted by the ministry on youth care.
It is also meant to highlight the potential and role of governmental bodies and civil society in the development of services and care to young people with disabilities.
