
Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government's Official Spokesperson Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab today received Bahrain-based Foreign Correspondents Club board led by Chairman Sami Kamal and congratulated them on their new-look panel.The two sides discussed cooperation in holding joint events and promoting a balanced media which projects to the world the reality in Bahrain, taking into account the principles of objectivity, credibility, code of ethics and responsible freedom. The minister commended the crucial role of Foreign Correspondents Club in promoting awareness of national issues and supplying Arab and foreign media with updated activities and events taking place in Bahrain.She underscored the importance of the panel as an inclusive umbrella bringing together reporters accredited by the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) and strengthening professional and social bonds between them.Correspondents Club board Chairman Sami Kamal paid tribute to the minister for supporting members in exercising their rights in total freedom and independence. He hailed media openness and press liberties which are now prevailing in Bahrain under the reform project, which was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.The meeting was attended by Correspondents Club board Vice Chairman Jamal Yaqout, secretary-general Ghazwan Adnan, treasurer Fatima Al-Ali and members Shaikheddine Abdulla, Mahmoud Rafiq Chaudhury, Abdulla Ibrahim Al-Taher and Mohammed Sameer Al-Jayoussi.
