His Majesty the King's Advisor for Media Affairs Nabil bin Yaqoob Al Hamer, the Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), stressed the importance of unity to face the fierce media attacks on the GCC countries and societies, describing solidarity as the need of the hour. He was speaking in the opening session of the Gulf Political Media Forum which got underway in Bahrain today. He said BIPD is organising the forum with the aim to boost the role of mass media in promoting the political and democratic culture in the GCC community through the participation of an elite of Arab politicians, media persons and academics. He pointed out the importance of the enlightened political media as an effective awareness tool for a civil and democratic society, amid changes witnessed by the Arab region, in general, and the Gulf one, in particular. He stressed the key role of political media in maintaining the essence of the prevalent political culture, besides being a key element in the comprehensive development process. He emphasised the responsibility of every media person to play his part in building the nation, ensuring its stability and shaping its future.
