France on Wednesday deplored the killing of two Russian journalists during fighting in Eastern Ukraine, where separatists are seeking autonomy from the Ukrainian government in Kiev.
The two journalists were part of the "VGTRK" media group.
France said that "all light must be shed on the circumstances surrounding the loss of these two journalists, whose deaths add to the already too long list of victims in this conflict." The Foreign Ministry here sent a message of condolence to the media group and to the families and relatives of the two men.
France also praised the role of journalists in courageously covering conflicts worldwide, despite the dangers and threats they endure
