Five unidentified men have raped a 22-year-old female reporter in Mumbai Thursday night. The police have created a facial composite of the suspected and launched searches. NDTV channel reported on Friday that 20 people have been already detained in connection with the crime. The young woman was on duty together with her boyfriend. The attackers plucked both of them in a deserted building, tied and beat the young man and then raped the journalist. She has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The rape issue set the Indian community in turmoil after an incident with a 23-year old female physiotherapy intern Jyoti Singh Pandey. Walking home at night, the girl together with her boyfriend took a bus where were another six men. After a quarrel the men blocked the doors and for several hours raped the student, while her boyfriend was beaten with metal wands. After that the offenders threw the victims on the street and were trying to override them with the bus. Two weeks after, the girl died in the hospital, succumbing to injuries. Mass protests started across the country. People demanded to convict the attackers to death. The first sentence on this case is expected to be pronounced on August 31.
