FAJ condemns recent killing of journalists

The Federation for Arab Journalists (FAJ) condemned Saturday recent assassination and kidnapping crimes against Arab and non-Arab journalists, expressing sorrow for these atrocities that violate freedoms of expression and opinion, as well as freedom of the press.
FAJ called, in a press statement, all international institutions, particularly media and human rights, to condemn these crimes and bring their perpetrators to justice.
The federation, based in Cairo, also condemned the murder of U.S. journalist James Foley in Syria by members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), noting that Foley was performing his duty in reporting facts on the Syrian crisis to the international public opinion.
It also condemned the kidnapping of Libyan journalists Osama Rashed and Mohammad Al-Saaeedi, who worked for the state-run Libya International Channel, while on their way to their homes, pointing out that the kidnapping of the two is one of the latest series of press freedom violations in the country.
