Cairo - Akram Ali

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has abandoned complaints against journalists and television presenters led by his presidential office, claiming the government respects freedom of expression. Presidential spokesman Ehab Fahmy has claimed charges against Egyptian newspapers, including al-Masry al-Youm, will be dropped. Journalist Bassem Sabry has meanwhile claimed the majority of complaints against media professionals came from sources outside the government, not the presidency itself.
