Cairo - Akram Ali

Egypt's investment minister has quashed rumours that the government is planning to revoke licences from several Egyptian satellite channels. Yehia Hamed told reporters at the presidential palace that reports of CBC, Dream and al-Nahar TV going being taken off-air were untrue. However, he confirmed that representatives of the aforementioned channels were removed from the board of directors of the Media Free Zone. Earlier this week, Egyptian newspapers reported that Egypt's Islamist government would withdraw the licences of a number of satellite channels.
