Three human rights organizations condemned assaults on Egyptian journalists during field coverage. The Egyptian Initiative to Defend Journalists, the National Association for Change and the Press Independence Defense Committee criticized the assaults and urged the authorities to protect journalists and bring the assailants to justice. Earlier, two journalists Khaled Hussain, a journalist for Al-Yom 7 news website, was critically shot in the chest and Amr el-Said, a photojournalist for Sada El-Balad news website, received shotgun shells while covering Monday's protests at Cairo University
