A court in Colombia has sentenced a former website editor to prison for promoting the ideology of a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla organization. Joaquin Perez Becerra was sentenced to eight years in prison for his conviction on aggravated conspiracy charges, Colombia Reports reported Tuesday. Perez is the former editor of Anncol, a website that favors FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. He was arrested at an airport in Venezuela in 2011 after Interpol issued a Red Notice alert against him for his ties to FARC. At his trial, prosecutors presented hundreds of email message taken from a FARC commander's computer demonstrating that Perez coordinated his articles with the rebel group. In one email Perez apologized to FARC for publishing information the guerrilla commanders didn't like.
