Bahrain's local newspapers on Friday focused on new cooperation opportunities between Bahrain and China, in the wake of a senior Chinese official's visit to the gulf country.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a high-level delegation for an official visit to Bahrain from Wednesday to Friday. The visit involved a series of meetings on economic and investment cooperation, as the two countries are celebrating the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties.
Bahrain's Al Ayam newspaper highlighted the meeting between the Chinese delegation and Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in which the king lauded the historic Bahrain-China ties that have mutually dedicated to the best interests of the two peoples. King Hamad also highlighted Bahrain's resolve to boost cooperation with China in various areas.
The Gulf Daily News mentioned in its coverage that the king hailed the contribution of the Chinese community in Bahrain to the kingdom's development process, adding that the king also commended China's supportive stance towards Bahrain's security and stability, as well as its support for just Arab causes and the contribution to maintaining world peace and security.
Al Bilad newspaper discussed Yu's appraisal of his meeting with the king and other senior officials. The top Chinese political advisor pledged China's support for Bahrain's efforts to preserve its sovereignty, emphasizing China's adherence to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
Bahrain-China relations have been witnessing development since the Bahrain king's official visit to China in September 2013, which was followed by an exchange of high-level visits between the two countries.
