
The Interior Ministry has today won the social media award for best active government account. The prize was awarded to the media security information directorate as part of efforts to encourage the responsible use of social media. His Majesty's Personal Representative and head of the High Authority for Information and Communication Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa patronised the award-distribution ceremony. The directorate produced thirty films documenting the security situation in Bahrain, in addition to 25 awareness-enhancing ads. It spared no effort to build bridges and deal with the mass media in total transparency, dealing with 463 remarks aired on radio programme: "Good Morning Bahrain". It also dealt with 522 remarks published in the local press and published over 779 articles highlight the ministry's activities, events and functions until last November. The ministry's tweets topped 3123 in 2013 while twitter account followers totaled 136,000 to-date. .
