
The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASPU) elected on Wednesday during its general assembly meeting a Kuwaiti Information ministry official as president of the union.
During the general assembly ASPUS 34th conference, members of the union elected Mohammad Al-Awwash, Assistant Undersecretary of Information, planning, and Development Affairs.
Tunisian Mustapha Ballatif was elected the First Deputy President of the union, and Jordanian Ramadan Rawashda as Second Deputy.
Sudanese Abdulraheem Yunus was elected as the union's Director General.
Participants in the general assembly meeting also discussed ways to enhance the general administration of social media and communication, so that they can keep up with the latest methods in media and technology.
The meeting also approved a media strategy to combat radicalism, including a number of training courses in media fields to bolster human resources and members of the union.
Earlier, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah stressed on the role by ASPU to highlight the real Arab image and transfer impressive messages to the world.
